Free Counselling Service

With mental health services becoming increasingly strained, The Young People’s Counselling Service offers young people the support they need with up to 12 sessions of free counselling. This service currently operates out of locations in Yaxley, Peterborough, Wisbech, Whittlesey and Ramsey. Young people can refer themselves or be referred by a parent/carer, GP, professional or school.

Referral Process

A young person, parent/carer, GP, health professional or school makes an initial enquiry by phone, email or through our website.
Our administrator will call or email to gather some more information about the young person being referred and to send out a referral form (if criteria such as age and location is met).
When we receive the completed referral form, this is triaged by our Clinical Coordinators and added to our waiting list.
An appointment with a matched therapist is offered as soon as possible. Please note that appointment waiting times can range from 6 to 12 weeks.
An appointment letter is sent for the young person to begin their sessions. If the therapist is working remotely, a contract and a questionnaire will also be sent.

Our free counselling service is currently available to young people living in Peterborough, Fenland and Huntingdonshire.

Our Locations

Please note that The Young People’s Counselling Service does not have a drop-in service. All counselling is by appointment only after completing our referral process.
