Testimonials

The Young People’s Counselling Service values the feedback we receive from young people, parents and schools. Please scroll through to see what some of the families who have accessed our service have had to say about us.

  • I also wanted to say how much of a difference it has made to L having counselling. She is more positive and it was good for her to have someone neutral to speak to about her problems and worries. Both L and myself would like to thank her counsellor for working with her.

  • Our daughter will finish her private counselling, that YPCS arranged for her, with Marcia. I cannot thank you all enough for the help that you have all given her over the last year. I do not exaggerate when I say that the help and support that she has received has been life changing. And being able to arrange private counselling through a trusted agency after she had received the free sessions through school was a relief as we were not sure how to find a trusted provider of private sessions.

  • I want to fund raise for YPCS. My daughter benefitted from this service and I’d like to give back now. I am running Peterborough Marathon on 5th April next year and just wanted to know what I need to do.

  • Having access to YPCS saved my life and it’s really important to me to have a safe place to vent and know that I am being heard, I have a voice.

  • Just thought I would email you to tell you (my son) has had a great summer. Even though he has had a few wobbles he has remembered what you talked about with him and he has managed to control his anxieties before they spiral out of control. Finally thank you so much for helping to bring back the happy (boy) to us.

  • Kirsty did fantastic work and I’m not sure my daughter would be in school without her help.

  • After following the sleeping schedule we made together, (my son) has come a long way and is now sleeping in a shared room and round friends. I wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you for everything you have done. You have played a massive role in achieving a near normal sleeping pattern. YPCS is an amazing charity.

  • You really helped me with my stress and calming myself down during my panic attacks which unfortunately do still happen but thanks to you I know how to slow them down. I saved your email from the guided visualisation and meditation videos you sent me, which also improved my sleeping pattern. It was quite a rough year but you really helped me through all my issues this year and issues from my past that I didn’t know needed resolving! I can’t thank you enough for all your help, I am generally a more confident and positive person now and I couldn’t have gotten to this point without your help and advice. It will never be forgotten.

  • I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for us. Not only have you helped my child but you have helped me without knowing.

  • You have played a very special part in my child’s life. You have been a very stable and safe place for a little girl whose world does not always feel stable and safe. You were patient with her and slowed it all down and took the baby steps that she needed to open up. You taught her that people (other than me) can and will listen and also that she can communicate in ways that feel comfortable to her.

I felt so relieved that you could see the struggles that I could and that someone was willing to say, actually yes, this little girl is struggling and it’s not OK. Rather than so many other people that almost mocked us both and felt like tough love was the answer. You have been a breath of fresh air.

You are amazing at what you do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

  • Thank you for helping me get through some really tough things. You have made a really big difference.
