The Child and Adolescent Counsellor will provide professional counselling to children and adolescents experiencing a wide range of emotional problems. The counsellor will work with other parties involved in the young person’s well-being by providing support, guidance and advice. The counsellor will also contribute to YPCS’s endeavour to offer the highest quality of care by maintaining excellent levels of service that ensure safeguarding and the welfare of young people is at the forefront at all times.

What we are seeking from you:

  • Degree or Masters level in Counselling or Psychotherapy, or Post Graduate Diploma (degree in other subject). (Level 4/5
    will be considered if the candidate has significant experience and child related training undertaken).
  • BACP membership (registered). UKCP or ACP registration (NCS).
  • Specific therapeutic training (CPD) or qualification in working with children and young people.
  • Minimum of 1 year post qualification experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with children and young people.

Locations: Wisbech, Yaxley and Peterborough

Hours: Various hours per week at each location (days/afternoon/one early evening until 6:30pm may be required).
Additional hours may be available.

This role can be on an employed or contractor (associate therapist) basis.

Clinical Service Manager (Cambridgeshire)

As part of the Senior Leadership team, The Clinical Service Manager will lead a team consisting of clinical Co-ordinator and currently 12 Therapists, will have the day to day responsibility for the delivery and operation of the counselling service. The Clinical Service Manager will also ensure the highest quality service provision to beneficiaries, work strategically with partners and funders, supporting the Clinical Service Director and Operations Director of the organisation with the longer term development of the service.

This role would suit an experienced clinician with previous service management experience of a charity or counselling/therapeutic organisation

Reporting to:  Will report directly to the Clinical Service Director, and/or Operations Director.

Service Delivery
  • This  role will involve shadowing the Clinical Services Director, supporting them in all aspects of project and contract management and project/contract delivery. This includes funding applications and clinical contracting.
  • Providing Senior Leadership for all aspects of the counselling services team, developing the service offer in line with best practice.
  • Being an advocate for co-production and participation within the service and ensure the voice of children and young people is valued across the service.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional  evenings and attending board meetings, to ensure the smooth running and safe operation of services.
  • Work positively with partners across our footprint to create collaborative advantage to benefit local young people.
Human Resources
  • Nurture the ethics and values of the organisation, embracing co-production, team work, responsibility, and positivity within your work and inspiring this in others.
  • Provide line management support to the Counselling Co-ordinator and Therapists who are responsible for the day to day delivery of the service. Support on project evaluation and KPI performance monitoring.
  • Lead on recruitment selection, and induction of staff members, self-employed contractors and our volunteers on placement  within the organisation
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, in all aspects of service development and delivery.
Essential Criteria: Experience of leading and managing a medium size team, experience of project delivery.
Desirable Criteria: Clinical qualification.

Hours: The role is for 30 hrs per week over 4 days, flexible working available, some evening meetings no more than 8 per year.

Salary: This role is on a fixed term contract (6 months) with scope to extend, salary TBC and dependent on qualification and experience.
